In his new role, Arun will be responsible for all engineering initiatives and will also build respective teams with high levels of motivation and competency.
Zoomcar is eyeing a deeper penetration in the Indian market and its primary target is to have over 1,00,000 vehicles on road in 18-24 months.
A veteran in the engineering segment with close to two decades of experience, Arun has been a techno-functional executive for over 15 years. He has previously worked with Goibibo and Makemytrip as the senior director of engineering where he led the supply-side engineering and product initiatives. An entrepreneur himself, he co-founded Magicrooms.in, a real-time inventory distribution engine for hotels in India, which he sold to Yatra.com in 2011. He also co-founded Koruko.com in 2013, an IoT-based retail engagement platform, which was later pivoted as Trip38.com.
“Cutting-edge technology has always been our priority and Markish’s appointment will further our lead on the technical platform side as we are doubling down on investing for more than 100 k cars on the platform. I believe that under his leadership, the teams will become highly efficient and am confident that he will help in transforming the paradigm of self-drive mobility in India,” said Greg Moran, CEO and co-Founder, Zoomcar.
Zoomcar is over 250 people strong and operates in 45 cities across India. In 2018, it introduced India’s first peer-to-peer-based marketplace for cars with the launch of its shared subscription mobility model and currently commands over 90% market share in this space.
