    Andhra Pradesh crosses 3 lakh-mark in Covid-19 cases, death toll reaches 2,820

    Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday reported 9,652 new cases of Covid-19, after the state posted over-10,000 new infections five consecutive days a week ago and three consecutive days in the earlier week.

    The number of recoveries since Monday morning stood at 9,211 and deaths due to the disease at 88, according to a state bulletin on Tuesday evening.

    Andhra’s tally of Covid-19 cases has reached 306,261 that includes 85,130 active cases, 218,311 recoveries, and 2,820 deaths.

    The state Covid-19 command control room said 56,090 samples were tested in the state in the 24 hours since Monday morning, taking the total to 29,61,611 tests thus far--the fourth-highest in India after Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra.

    East Godavari (1,396) reported new Covid-19 cases in four-digits, while the rest 12 districts in Andhra recorded three-digit cases.

    Andhra Pradesh has reported 55,461 tests per million persons, as against the national average of 22,308 tests. The state’s rate of new positive cases by Tuesday morning stood at 10.34% compared with the national average of 8.73%.

    The recovery rate in Andhra stood at 71.28% by Tuesday morning as against the national average of 73.18%. The mortality rate stood at 0.92% as compared with the national average of 1.92%.
