French carmaker Renault today announced that the bookings for its all-new product, Triber, will start from 17 August. Consumers can book the car for a token amount of Rs 11,000 from the company’s website or at dealerships.
Renault Triber is the first car in the country to accommodate up to seven adults in less than four metres of vehicle length to attract lower taxation.

The vehicle will be launched on 28 August. Production has already begun at the company’s manufacturing facility in Chennai and cars are reaching Renault’s 350 dealerships across the country.

“India is a key market for Groupe Renault. We have a clear objective and strategy to accelerate our expansion in India, by doubling the sales volume to 200,000 units annually over the next three years,” said Venkatram Mamillapalle, country CEO and managing director, Renault India Operations. “Renault Triber will play an important role in our expansion plans and will set new benchmarks in terms of space and modularity. Renault Triber is targeted at a wide set of customers across segments, led by the B-segment.”

The company is targetting sales of up to 20,000 units of Triber by the end of 2019, following which it expects average sales of about 7,000 units of the car per month, Mamillapalle told ET.
