TPDDL receives 90% payments from digital mode

NEW DELHI: Tata Power Delhi Distribution that supplies electricity to north and north-west Delhi has said it has received more than 90% of its bill payments from digital modes during lockdown.
The company with 7 million consumers said prior to lockdown about 65% of consumers were making payments using digital modes, an official statement said adding the months of April and May saw zero cash bill payments.

This positive trend emerged because of a variety of digital platforms and modes made available by the company to its consumers for e-payment, it said. Of all the available e-payments modes, e-wallets have emerged as the most preferred one with a share of 40-43% followed by Net Banking with 20-21% share. The main reason behind the popularity of e-wallets is the cash back offers associated with it, the statement said.

The company has facilitated convenient delivery of bills on WhatsApp and through other mediums such as – TPDDL Connect Mobile App, Website and Call Centre.

“We at Tata Power-DDL have been working towards various strategies over the years to revamp the process of bill payments for consumer convenience and to contribute towards Digital India. We have now reached a number where more than 90% of our bill payment is received via digital modes. It has been a remarkable journey of developing a cashless customer friendly payment system in the utility space, promoting efficiency and transparency in the transactions. We urge all our consumers to make e- payment a practice beyond Covid -19 days also.” said Tata Power-DDL CEO Ganesh Srinivasan.
