DoT favours local network gear for BSNL

NEW DELHI: A Department of Telecommunications (DoT) panel for Bharat Sanchat Nigam Ltd's (BSNL) 4G tender has recommended allowing only Indian companies to provide core network products and services to the staterun telco.

“The core shall be Indian... Indian vendor need to pass through Proof of Concept for provenness of the product... not more than two system integrators can offer PoC for Indian core, if that fails, BSNL will be not able to procure core,” the committee said in recommendations, reviewed by ET. Tech Mahindra has said it will bid for BSNL’s 4G tender.
