    No reference yet on floor pricing from DoT: Trai Chairman

    Telecos Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea have been seeking relief from the government to restore the heath of the telecom sector, including informal requests for establishing floor pricing or minimum tariffs for voice and or data used by customers. The government has been nudging the Trai took into the matter as pricing is in the regulator's domain.

    New Delhi: India's telecom regulator is yet to receive any reference or communication from the telecom department or the government panel looking into the revival of the sector, for setting a floor price on voice or data.
    "We have not received anything," Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's chairman RS Sharma said. He did not comment on whether the body will look into the matter on its own.

    Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea posted monumental losses on Thursday, as they set aside thousands of crores towards additional government dues.
