The railways minister said Rajasthan capital Jaipur is at number two and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh was placed at number three.
Two railway stations in Rajsthan, Jodhpur and Marwar, have emerged as the cleanest railway stations in the third cleanliness survey released today.

"Jodhpur has emerged as the cleanest station in A1 station category. Last year, Visakhapatnam was at the first spot," railway minister Piyush Goyal said while releasing the cleanliness survey report today.

The railways minister said Rajasthan capital Jaipur is at number two and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh was placed at number three.

The Minister also said that in A category stations, Marwar in Rajasthan topped the list, followed by Phulera in Rajasthan at number two, and Warangal in Telangana at number three.

As part of its sanitation drive, the railways had conducted a third-party survey for assessment of cleanliness. Apart from survey for stations, the national transporter is also doing survey to find the ‘cleanest train’. Over 200 trains have been pitted against each other to find the cleanest train.

The survey was conducted by the Quality Council of India (QCI) on the 407 major railway stations (75 A1 category and 332 A category stations). The first survey was conducted by the IRCTC in 2016, the second by QCI.

Goyal also said that the North Western Railway topped the list as the cleanest zone. South Central Railway (SCR) was declared the second cleanest zone. It was on the fourth spot last year.

East Coast Railway was placed at the third spot in the cleanest zones.

The railways has a ‘Swachh Rail’ portal to showcase cleanliness rankings of various stations. Indian Railways is the third largest rail network in the world, covering 66,000 km and having more than 8,000 stations.
