The ongoing celebrations ahead of RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani's son Akash's wedding to Shloka Mehta have been the talk of the town, or rather country ever since they began last month.
After a dandiya night in Mumbai, a three-day Winter Wonderland extravaganza in St. Moritz, a Harry Potter-themed bash, a musical night (that reportedly saw Shreya Ghosal perform for 1600 guests) and a puja on the occasion of Shivratri in the Maximum City, the families are now gearing up for the big day with an 'Anna Seva'.

As part of the week-long 'Anna Seva', the Ambanis and Mehtas served dinner to 2000 children. The Anna Seva will continue till March 13 in all the orphanages and old age homes in the city. As part of the programme, the Ambanis will supply groceries to all the orphanages and old age homes in the city for a year.

The 'Anna Seva' has become a sort of tradition for the family, who also conducted one in Udaipur in December before daughter Isha's wedding to Piramal scion Anand.

Prior to beginning the 'Anna Seva', Nita Ambani also inaugurated the Dhirubhai Ambani Square at Jio World Centre in Bandra in front of 2000 underpriviliged children from NGOs supported by the Reliance Foundation. The evening also saw a Musical Fountain programme to the rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Jai Ho’.

Talking about the future of the Dhirubhai Ambani Square, Nita Ambani said, “We are delighted to be able to share our joy with, and receive the blessings of, thousands of children and senior citizens from across the city.

"The special musical fountain programme at the Dhirubhai Ambani Square is a dedication to the vibrant spirit of Mumbai and we look forward to presenting several shows post the wedding to the people who make us proud every day - our police, our military and para-military forces, our firemen, our BMC workers, and many others who keep this great city safe and going 24x7.”

Meanwhile, the Ambanis' residence, and the road leading to it, has been decked up with flowers and strings of lights.

A 'Mala and Mehendi' function has been planned for tomorrow at the Dome, NSCI in Worli.

The son of the world's 8th richest man will tie the knot with diamantaire Russell Mehta's daughter on Saturday at the Jio World Centre, Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). The wedding will be followed by a Mangal Parv celebration at the same venue the following day, and a reception on March 11.

According to reports, Grammy-winning band 'Maroon 5' is likely to have their debut performance in India at one of the functions. The couple's Swiss bash saw performances by 'Coldplay's' Chris Martin and 'The Chainsmokers'. And last December, Beyonce made her debut in India at Ambani heiress Isha's pre-wedding bash in Udaipur.

Childhood friends Akash and Shloka attended Dhirubhai Ambani School together. The Brown University alumnus proposed to Shloka in March last year, and the couple celebrated the new beginning surrounded by close family and friends in Goa. This was followed by a star-studded engagement for the couple at the Ambanis' Mumbai residence in June.
