Apple unveiled its upcoming operating system IOS 14 for iPhones and iPadOS 14 for iPads at WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) 2020. The Cupertino-based company has now released the public beta versions of iOS14 and iPadOS 14. Usually, one needs a $99 developer account in order to gain access to Apple’s betas but this one is free for all.

Apple is reportedly planning to release new betas every few weeks in summer to fix as many bugs as possible by testing a large number of users. For starters, it is advisable not to download the beta version on your primary Apple device as some apps and features might not work at all. There is also a possibility that the new update might ‘brick’ your device and render it unusable.

Therefore, you must proceed with extreme caution. On your secondary Apple device, enroll into Apple Beta Software Program with your Apple ID. Then go to Settings > General > Software Update from your device to download the update. The device should have at least 50 percent battery or connected to the charger to install the new package.

The new iOS 14 comes with a plethora of new features such as widgets on the home screen, a new App library and ability to run App Clips to preview apps without installing them on the phone.

New updates also include cycling directions for Apple Maps, Picture-in-Picture (PiP) support and memojis with face masks.
