    Big B unveils mural of Dadasaheb Phalke in Mumbai

    The 120 x 150 foot mural of Dadasaheb Phalke has been painted by artist Ranjit Dhaiya (Bollywood Art Project) and unveiled by Amitabh Bachchan and Piyush Pandey.

    The St+art Mumbai edition gave the MTNL building at Bandra Reclamation a Bollywoodesque makeover. The 120 x 150 foot mural of Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema, has been painted by artist Ranjit Dhaiya (Bollywood Art Project) and unveiled by Amitabh Bachchan and Piyush Pandey.

    Ranjit says, “Keeping Mumbai’s love for the film industry in mind, the one individual that I instantly thought of was Dadasaheb Phalke, who deserved the most prominent mural.” What’s next? “I would like to do an aerial view painting on a huge sheet of tarpaulin in Dharavi where people fl ying into the city would be able to see it from the plane. It would be welcoming them to Mumbai — the city of Bollywood.”
