Actress-turned-politician Nusrat Jahan got married to businessman Nikhil Jain in the picturesque Turkish town of Bodrum. The wedding took place on June 19 which was also the day of the oath-taking ceremony for newly-elected members of Parliament.

Jahan made her political debut after winning this year's Lok Sabha elections from the Basirhat constituency in West Bengal. But she had to skip the oath-taking ceremony in Parliament as it clashed with her nuptials.

Present at the wedding was also her friend and fellow first-time MP, Mimi Chakraborty who also skipped the oath-taking ceremony. The two had earlier received backlash for posting a selfie outside Parliament.

The first-time MP got married in an intimate ceremony held at the Six Senses Kaplankaya, an upscale resort set on a hillside overlooking the Aegean Sea. A reception is reportedly been planned in Kolkata next month.

Jahan posted a picture from the wedding, writing, "Towards a happily ever after with @nikhiljain09".

Mimi and Nusrat both became first time MPs in the Lok Sabha elections this year. While Mimi contested from Jadavpur, Nusrat contested from the Basirhat constituency as TMC candidates.

Just two days ago Nusrat had shared two pictures on Instagram, saying: "No caption on my mind! Need your blessings like always #thenjaffair."

The hashtag is being also used by the groom and Nusrat's friends to post some updates from the celebrations.

A haldi ceremony is said to have taken place in Kolkata, before the couple and their close family members and friends left for Turkey. Nusrat's Father's Day post showed the actress with haldi on her face.
