The tragic demise of former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj left not just the nation, but leaders across the world in shock, with tributes continuing to pour in even two days later.
The latest tribute came from Ivanka Trump who took to Twitter to condole the death of the former External Affairs Minister. The daughter of and senior advisor to US President Donald Trump described Swaraj as 'a champion for women in India and across the globe'.

Ivanka shared two pictures with Swaraj, and called it an 'honour to know her'. While one photograph showed the two women leaders with their national flags in the background, the other was of a more informal meeting.

Earlier on Tuesday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had also paid tribute to the leader who he called his friend.

"Saddened to hear of the passing of my friend and former #India External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. She was a strong partner who shared our view that a more democratic world is a more peaceful one. Our thoughts are with her family and the people of India," Pompeo wrote alongside a photo with Swaraj.

Swaraj was an avid Twitter user, and often turned to the microblogging site to come to rescue of Indians who reached out to her on social media. The 67-year-old defined 'digital diplomacy' - the use of social media to further diplomatic concerns for a state.

The political stalwart passed away on Tuesday night after suffering a cardiac arrest. She was cremated at the Lodhi Road crematorium with full state honours.
