    India's nightingale turns 91; PM Modi, Shankar Mahadevan wish 'Queen of Melody' Lata Mangeshkar on her birthday

    Legendary singer, often called the 'golden voice of India', Lata Mangeshkar, is celebrating her 91st birthday today. In a career spanning over seven decades, Mangeshkar lent her voice to countless films, recorded over a thousand songs in over 36 Indian languages. The voice behind soulful numbers like 'Lag Jaa Gale' and 'Aajkal Paaon Zameen Par', Mangeshkar is one of the most revered singers the country has produced.
    As she turned 91, several politicians, B-Town stars and other artists from the world of music sent their best wishes on her special day, praying for her health and long life.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling Mangeshkar a household name in the nation, said that he considers himself fortunate to receive her affection and blessings.


    Home Minister Amit Shah, addressed Mangeshkar as 'didi' and prayed for her health and long life.

    Calling her 'Queen of Melody', Civil Aviation Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri, wished Mangeshkar on her birthday. "May she continue to enthral legions of her fans across the world for many more years to come," he wrote.
    West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended her wishes, writing, "Wishing you a very happy birthday, @mangeshkarlata ji. I pray for your long and healthy life (sic)."

    Singer Shankar Mahadevan, shared a photograph with the veteran singer and asked her to keep blessing the musicians as they strive for excellence.

    Actress Kangana Ranaut, called Mangeshkar a 'Karma Yogi' and sent her best wishes.

    Bhajan samrat Anup Jalota, too, sent Mangeshkar best wishes on her special day.

    Renowned sand artist Sudarhsan Pattnaik wished the legendary singer with an art installation.
