    Instagram back up after global outage sees users having a meltdown on Twitter

    Founded in 2010, Instagram was bought by Facebook for $1 billion in 2012, and currently has over one billion active monthly users.
    Facebook's photo-sharing platform Instagram is back up for users after suffering a global outage on Wednesday for an hour. While the Zuckerberg-led tech giant did not immediately comment on the issue, people took to Twitter to verify the news.

    Many users gave suggestions on what to do while the app was down, and some merely confirmed the bug using the hashtag 'instagramdown'.

    The outage comes just days after over 50 million Facebook accounts were breached by hackers.








    Meanwhile, on Tuesday Facebook announced Adam Mosseri as the new head of Instagram. Mosseri is the Vice President of Product at Facebook, and replaces Instagram co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger who abruptly announced their departure in September.
