IPL or KBC, asks Twitter as 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' S12 premieres; sparks a meme fest

On Monday, season 12 of television game show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', which has earned a cult fan following since its debut in the year 2000, premiered and Twitter went into a frenzy. Over the years, the quiz show hosted by the Big B, has been the source of several famous and viral memes.
Season 12 of the show is noteworthy particularly because it is being filmed with no live audience due to the coronavirus pandemic and the show's host, Amitabh Bachchan, too, had been diagnosed with coronavirus two months prior to its release.

As soon as the show went on air, Twitter couldn't help but churn hilarious memes and several netizens even wondered if the show will be able to retain its spot on the TRP charts as it was competing with the Indian Premier League (IPL).

"When KBC has started but no one is making meme on you because of IPL," quipped this netizen.

This meme accurately captures the reaction of our parents when we correctly answer a question on the show.

Others were not too happy that there was no audience in the show.

Some netizens were not too keen about the return of the show.

According to showrunner Sujata Sanghamitra, for the first time in 20 years, the show is hosting no live audience and hence, the lifeline 'audience poll' has been replaced by video-a-friend to align with how "the country is looking at each other through screens now".

"The set designing changed as we have only eight fastest finger first contestants, reduced from the usual 10 so that social distancing is maintained.
