2020 has been a rather challenging year for Bollywood. After the demise of the shining stars of the Indian film industry, Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor in April, on Monday, news broke that music director Wajid Khan of the Sajid-Wajid duo has passed away due to kidney infection complications.
After his brother Sajid confirmed the heartbreaking news, B-Town was left in shock and disbelief. Several musicians, singers, film stars and film-makers took to social media to pay tribute to the late music composer.

Out of all the celebs, Khan frequently collaborated with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. Khan had made his debut as a music director with Salman’s ‘Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya’. Khan also crooned songs like ‘Soni De Nakhre’, ‘Jalwa’, ‘Hud Hud Dabangg’ and ‘Chinta Ta Ta Chita Chita’.

Sajid-Wajid then went on to compose music for several Salman movies like ‘Hello Brother’, ‘Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge’, ‘Garv’, ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’, ‘Partner’, ‘God Tussi Great Ho’, and more.

Calling the late composer a "beautiful soul", Salman said that Wajid will always be loved and missed.

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to condole the demise of Khan. ‘A bright smiling talent passes away,’ wrote the Big B in his tweet.

Film-maker Karan Johar wrote, ‘your music will always live on’, and sent deepest condolences for friends and family.

Actor Akshay Kumar was ‘shocked and saddened’ to hear about Khan’s demise.

Film director and choreographer Farah Khan also mourned the tragic loss of the music composer.

Actress Preity Zinta penned a heartfelt note, paying tribute to Khan. “I used to call him my brother from another mother,” wrote Zinta. The 45-year-old also added that she is ‘heartbroken’ that she didn’t get to say goodbye to the late music director. ‘I will miss you & our jam sessions forever,’ she added.

Besides B-Town, several stars from the music industry also sent out condolences to Khan and his family.

Music composer Amit Trivedi, too, felt that his beloved ‘Wajid bhai’ was gone too soon.

Remembering Khan, singer Rekha Bhardwaj said that she can never forget his ‘childlike, innocent, mischievous smile’.
Singer and musician Adnan Sami wrote that he is struggling to come to grips with the tragic news. ‘I’ve lost a dear brother Wajid,’ wrote Sami.

Indian singer and actress Monali Thakur also wrote an Instagram post, saying that Khan was ‘indeed one of the sweetest and warmest people’ she ever knew.
