In no time, the social media was flooded with messages from the cricket fraternity and B-Town stars, paying tribute to the legendary batsman and wishing him all the luck for the second innings of his life. However, it was brands like Zomato, Google India, Parle G and PayTm that stole the cake (and the attention) with their witty retorts and fun take on the legend’s retirement.
Famous food-ordering app Zomato, in what can be called an unprecedented move, gave 100% off on food orders placed in Ranchi, Jharkhand as a ‘gift for the city that gifted India a legend’. Dhoni was born into a Rajput family in Ranchi and made his way to international cricket from a small town.
The 100% discount was available from 7 pm on August 16 to midnight upto Rs 183, which is Dhoni's top score in ODI cricket, against Sri Lanka in the year 2005.

Parle G, too, sent out a tweet to pay a tribute to the 39-year-old, writing ‘you stump quicker than we melt for chai'
We like our Chai hot and our “Captain Cool”. You ended this game in style - like always; and we bid you farewell.… https://t.co/ZA38uF3yG8
