Maha rights body gives clean chit to Cooper hospital, Mumbai Police over morgue access to Rhea Chakraborty

In a fresh development in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, the SHRC (State Human Rights Commission) has announced its verdict on the 45-minute mortuary access given to Rhea Chakraborty.
According to a report in TimesNow, the Maharashtra human rights body has given a clean chit to both Cooper hospital and the Mumbai police. In the SHRC report, the body has cited 'no breach by Cooper hospital or Mumbai Police'.


Earlier, the SHRC had taken objection over Rhea's entry into the mortuary and had issued notices to Cooper hospital and the Mumbai Police. The Cooper Hospital has clarified that they didn't give Rajput's girlfriend the permission to enter the mortuary, Times Now had reported.

Meanwhile, Chakraborty, who was sentenced to 14 days of judicial custody by the Mumbai sessions court on September 8 and is currently in Byculla jail, along with her brother Showik, is likely to apply for a bail application before the Bombay High Court today.


According to a report in Times Now, the 28-year-old's lawyer Satish Maneshinde, will file two separate bail plea applications before the Bombay HC today with a plea for urgent hearing so that the matter can be heard tomorrow.

However, on Monday, as per a Times of India report, Manshinde, who is representing the Chakrabortys, had shared in a statement that they are in no hurry to apply for bail. “Even if we get a copy of the Order today, we are not in a hurry and moving immediately… we will study the order, it’s implications and developments in the case at the (Narcotics Control Bureau) NCB level and then decide. There’s no room for speculation… once it is filed we will share a copy of the bail application.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Rajput's ex-manager, Shruti Modi was summoned by the NCB, which is probing the alleged 'drug link' into the late actor's death, for interrogation.


In the plea filed in a sessions court on 9 September, Chakraborty claimed that she has not committed any crime whatsoever and has been falsely implicated in the case.

In the plea, she also said that her arrest is "unwarranted and without any justification". "The actor's liberty has arbitrarily been curtailed," it added.

The NCB had said that the actress has revealed that she used to procure drugs for Rajput for consumption purpose.

Various angles surrounding the death of the Sushant Singh Rajput are being probed by three federal agencies- the NCB, the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Rajput was found dead at his Bandra flat on June 14.
