Even the harshest of Apple’s critics will have to admit that the Cupertino-based tech giant changed the game in the wearables market with the Apple Watch. However, the Watch remains elusive for many — because of the price — and retains an air of exclusivity — because of Apple’s ecosystem constraints. This is where Samsung made a smart play with its Galaxy Watch to snag those who want a smartwatch they can use with their Android phones. The Galaxy Watch 3 is Samsung’s latest salvo at the Apple Watch.

The Galaxy Watch 3 comes in two sizes — 41mm and 45mm — and features a leather strap, which is comfortable and looks elegant. It has a traditional circular design and a rotating bezel that can be used to navigate through the interface. The bezel works seamlessly and is quite nice to use. There are two buttons on the right side of the Watch for start/stop and back/home functionalities.

The Galaxy Watch 3 is heavier but is comfortable for everyday wear. The 1.4-inch Super AMOLED display is really bright and even under outdoor conditions, the texts are easy to read. The always-on display feature is present in the Galaxy Watch 3.

We tried the Watch 3 with the Galaxy S20 as well as the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Needless to say, it works best with an Android phone.

The one aspect where the Galaxy Watch 3 scores highly over Apple Watch is the battery. At its best, the Apple Watch doesn’t last more than 18 hours but the Galaxy Watch 3 can last you one-and-a-half days easily.

The Galaxy Watch 3 runs the TizenOS, which isn’t as good as watchOS but is easy to understand and navigate. The rotating bezel — a standout feature of Samsung watches — made it a breeze to use.

The Galaxy Watch 3 comes powered by the Exynos 9110 dual-core processor and has 1GB RAM and 8GB storage on board. There are also sensors such as accelerometer, barometer and gyroscope. Health and fitness features such as the heart rate monitor and sleep tracking work really well on the Watch 3.

At Rs 29,990, the Galaxy Watch 3 is certainly the best smartwatch in the Android world because of its design, features and ease-of-use.
