Shivaan Ghai, COO, The Brooklyn Creamery, has a candid conversation about his favourite suits, his love for House of Bijan and accessorising his outfits.
My first suit
“I was five-years old when I wore a suit to a family wedding. My first suit was tailored by a boutique in Hong Kong. However, I was too young to give any inputs. The best I have ever felt in a suit was during my high school graduation.”

Thread count
“At the moment, I have about 15 suits. However, my go-to look is usually a blazer or my casual black sports jacket.”

Crazy cool
“The most experimental jacket I wore was a canary yellow blazer at my friend’s bar-mitzvah last summer in Portugal. I like floral jackets. I love the roses jacquard coat from a previous collection of Dolce & Gabanna.”

Brand speak
“I wear all kinds of brands. From Zara, Derek Rose and Lululemon to Tom Ford and Berluti. The last suit I bought was a navy blue one from Herringbone & Sui for my college graduation from New York University.”

“I’d like to get a suit tailored from the House Of Bijan. The quality and bespoke designs appeal to me.”

Suit basics
“When it comes to wearing a suit, one thing that is often overlooked is the weather. I always keep in mind the climate and city I’m in when wearing a suit. Apart from that, the fit must be great and a good fabric is a must. You also have to keep an eye on your shirt — a badly ironed shirt can ruin the whole look.”

A for accessories
“When I’m wearing a suit, I like to pair it with a striking pocket square. I’m also a big watch guy, so a nice timepiece coupled with a stylish belt and shoes does the trick. Wearing a suit with sneakers? It’s a yes from me.”

Suit storage
“Use a sturdy hanger to keep the shape and cover it with a garment bag to protect it from dust.”
