Sanjay Motwani believes the best way to manage both personal and professional lives is to keep it fluid.
Sanjay Motwani, VP – APAC, Raritan, is enjoying the new found luxury - work from home. The top boss, who earlier used to spend most of his time planning work-related travel, has a new appreciation for the WFH culture. He said that it has improved his productivity.

    Piecing together the workday
“The day is nothing but pieces of a jigsaw puzzle comprising of office and home chores, and one has to fit them together in the best way possible. The only thing new is that it’s a different puzzle every day. Obviously, work takes precedence over chores, so when I get some free time between tight work schedule, I try and complete household chores.”

    “Win-win situation”
“Well, for someone who was travelling for most part of the month, WFH is a new-found luxury. I am trying to enjoy and maximise it as much as I can, in all possible ways. It has definitely improved my productivity as I am not spending time on planning work-related travel. I am also focussing on various aspects of my house which were being neglected. Overall, it is a win-win situation for the time being.”

    A fine balance
“In this work from home scenario, the lines are pretty much blurred between personal & professional time. Plus, I think we are hired to do a job, not clock in hours. During the day, evening or at night, you should keep alternating between the official and personal work. In my opinion, if you keep very sharp demarcations on professional work & personal time in the WFH scenario, you are adding on to your challenges. For example, for this article – I needed some mental time off from office work, so I spent some time to share my thoughts on this. I finished it and got back to office work. So, my way of managing both lives is to keep it fluid.”

    Fitness hacks
“This is a very important aspect and one must spend at least an hour every day doing some physical activities – whether it is yoga, exercise, running, etc. For me, I manage to work out in the evening, or even while being on conference calls.”

    Daily routine
“As I had mentioned, I keep it easy going and majority of my days start by waking up at any time between 5:30 – 6:00 am. This is followed by a refreshing cup of morning tea with an hour-long session to update myself with the latest happenings around the globe. I am usually at my work desk between 7.30 - 8:00 am, have a working breakfast and finish as many tasks possible till mid-day. My lunch hours are between 1:30 – 2:00 pm - that I am very particular about. Post that, I work flexibly to finish my office as well as household chores, which go on till 6:30 pm. One hour every evening is spent to exercise and relax myself. My late evenings are quite dynamic – it usually is a mix of work calls, family time, social calls, drinks, reading, TV, etc., which goes on till midnight.”

    Making memories
“The only thing I would like to say is that this lockdown or work from home period will make great stories for your grandkids – so start collecting!”
