Einstein Visa is for people who are highly acclaimed in their fields.
US First Lady Melania Trump obtained US citizenship on a visa reserved for immigrants with “extraordinary ability”, dubbed the Einstein visa.

    Here’s what it entails:

    1. Nicknamed the ‘Einstein Visa’, the EB-1 is in theory reserved for people who are highly acclaimed in their field — the government cites Pulitzer, Oscar, and Olympic winners as examples — as well as respected academic researchers and multinational executives.

    2. It is called so because a visa was granted to German-born physicist Albert Einstein in 1932, as the Nazi party rose to power, enabling him eventually to obtain American citizenship.

    3. According to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services website, the qualifications required for the Einstein visa sound lofty. “You must be able to demonstrate extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics through sustained national or international acclaim,” the website states.

    4. “Your achievements must be recognized in your field through extensive documentation,” is an additional caveat.

    5. As evidence, applicants must either have an outstanding onetime achievement — such as a Pulitzer Prize, an Oscar or an Olympic medal — or meet at least three of 10 lesser criteria.

    6. Once the three criteria are met, the decision is made based on a nebulous and undefined “final merits determination” by the immigration agency.

    7. The “extraordinary ability” immigrant visa category is one of the few visas for which an applicant does not require an employer or family sponsor.

    8. Out of the one million issued, only 5,530 received a green card in September 2016
