Work-from-home diaries: Ludo, laptop and diaper duties keeping MyGate co-founder busy

March was the Women’s History Month, and it seems like the COVID-19 lockdown has given office-going men a front row seat to just what goes into running a household, and they're coming away impressed by the effort their partners put into handling the mundane responsibilities year round and and their ability to multitask.
Abhishek Kumar, a co-founder at Bengaluru-based MyGate, recently posted a picture of his work-from-home setup on a social networking site: Ludo, a diaper and a laptop.

He added, “You probably can guess the age of my two kids by now.” Kumar said that his work from home stint has further enhanced his respect and empathy towards mothers, particularly those who are homemakers and must manage work and family at the same time.

While he acknowledged that he did help even before the whole world began working from home, the lockdown (just like it has for many) has shown how running the home and managing the children isn’t without its challenges and frustrations.

“It is back breaking, challenging and frustrating. Not that I was an a**h**e before. The 1st grader keeps saying "I am getting bored" every 10 mins, the baby will cry for attention while your team is on the video call!” he added candidly.

Kumar, who is based out of Bengaluru, said that we need to say thank you to all the spouses who manage to do it the whole year round more often and encouraged all working professionals to be team players not just at work, but at the home as well.
