    Tuesday not only marks day 14 of the 21-day nation-wide lockdown, but it also happens to be the World Health Day which is meant to celebrate and honour doctors and nurses for the critical role they play to keep the world healthy. The day is of paramount importance, especially in the present context as doctors and nurses are on the frontlines, leading the battle against Covid-19 pandemic.

    On the occasion of World Health Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent out a tweet expressing “gratitude towards all those doctors, nurses, medical staff and healthcare workers who are bravely leading the battle against the COVID-19 menace.”

    He also emphasised on the importance of practicing social distancing and focussing on personal fitness.

    The Vice President Venkaiah Naidu appealed to citizens to respect and appreciate the selfless work of the medical community.

    "Any misbehaviour or assault on doctors & nurses is unacceptable & most stringent action must be taken against culprits behind such incidents," his office tweeted.
