    Chilli, turmeric prices weaken on subdued demand

    Red chilli and turmeric prices declined by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 5,900-11,400 and Rs 6,400-11,900 per quintal, respectively.

    NEW DELHI: Red chilli and turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital on Monday owing to subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks.

    Red chilli and turmeric prices declined by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 5,900-11,400 and Rs 6,400-11,900 per quintal, respectively.

    Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid sufficient stocks position mainly put pressure on chilli and turmeric prices.

    The following are on Monday's quotations per quintal: Ajwain 10,500-17,000, black pepper (per kg) 350-470, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,000-1,020 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,050-1,180.

    Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 640-740, cardamom (colour robin) 590-690, cardamom bold 640-690, cardamom extra (bold) 790-890 and cloves (kg) 620-740.
