The Agriwatch Agri Commodities Index eased 0.22 per cent to 105.90 during the week ended March 10, 2018 led by the plunging Onion Index which fell 31.2 per cent ahead of rabi crop arrivals. Pulses, sugar and cereals also eased while edible oils and cotton gained. The base for the Index and all sub-Indices is 2014 (= 100).
Five of the nine commodity group sub-Indices and 16 of the 29 individual commodity sub-Indices declined during the week.
The commodity group sub-Index values and their weekly changes are: Cereals: 111.01 (-0.42 per cent), Pulses: 103.57 (-2.16 per cent), Onion & Potato: 69.76 (-12.41 per cent), Edible Oils: 110.96 (+2.75 per cent), Oilseeds: 105.20 (+0.16 per cent), Spices: 105.03 (-1.93 per cent), Sweeteners: 105.32 (-1.53 per cent), Fibres: 99.07 (+2.98 per cent) and Other Non-Food Articles: 86.84 (+0.68 per cent).
