    Mumbai power outage hits volumes at BSE, NSE

    “There is a power failure in south Mumbai. Exchange is working normally. The listing ceremony was concluded successfully for Mazagon Shipbuilders today morning,” a BSE spokesperson said in a statement.

    MUMBAI: Key stock exchanges BSE and NSE said the exchanges were functioning as usual, amid a major electricity outage across Mumbai city, and the neighboring areas.

    “The electric supply is interrupted due to TATAs incoming electric supply failure. Inconveniences is regretted,” BEST Electricity said in a tweet.

    There was no electricity in adjoining Navi Mumbai and Thane cities, and some other parts of the Maharashtra state as well. “There is a power failure in south Mumbai. Exchange is working normally. The listing ceremony was concluded successfully for Mazagon Shipbuilders today morning,” a BSE spokesperson said in a statement.

    NSE too, assured investors that the exchange was functioning as normal. “NSE is functioning normally,” a NSE spokesperson said in a statement.

    Brokerages said while systems were running fine, volumes seem to have come down. "Our systems are running as usual, and there are no interruptions. However, there may be some volume impact, as clients do not have seamless access to information,” said Deven Choksey, Group Managing Director K R Choksey Investment Managers.

    Meanwhile, local trains on the central railway line were also held up due to grid failure.
