Share market update: Telecom shares down; Vodafone Idea slumps 5%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading with losses in Thursday's morning session.

Shares of Optiemus Infracom (down 4.95 per cent ) , Vodafone Idea (down 4.81 per cent ) , ITI (down 4.26 per cent ) and Bharti Airtel (down 2.57 per cent ) were trading in the red.

Bharti Infratel (down 2.47 per cent ) , Sterlite Technologies (down 1.42 per cent ) and HFCL (down 0.87 per cent ) too were trading lower.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 2.54 per cent down at 1052.79 around 11:49 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 13.70 points at 11,985.40, while the BSE Sensex was 41.20 points at 40,610.44.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NCC, ZEEL, UCO Bank, SAIL, RBL Bank, BHEL and Aditya Birla Capital were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
