Stock market update: Nifty Auto index down 1%; Eicher Motors slips over 3%

NEW DELHI: Nifty Auto index was trading with losses at 12:55PM (IST) on Monday.

Shares of Eicher Motors (down 3.21 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (down 2.81 per cent), TVS Motor Company (down 2.07 per cent), Bajaj Auto (down 1.4 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra (down 0.93 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While Motherson Sumi Systems (up 1.32 per cent), MRF (up 0.84 per cent), Tata Motors (up 0.67 per cent), Bharat Forge (up 0.07 per cent) and Amara Raja Batteries (up 0.01 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty Auto index was trading 1.03 per cent down at 7877.65 around 12:55PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 93.60 points at 11856.05, while the BSE Sensex was up 379.35 points at 40362.33.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 34 were trading in the green, while 16 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Federal Bank, YES Bank, SBI and Vedanta were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Amber Enterprises India Ltd., JK Cement, JSW Steel, Oracle Fin and Ruchi Soya Inds hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Mittal Life Style Ltd., Vikas Proppant & Granite Ltd., Lypsa Gems & Jewellery Ltd., Zee Learn Ltd., SKIL Infrastructure Ltd., Som Distilleries & Breweries Ltd., Eon Electric Ltd., Twentyfirst Century Management Services Ltd., Sona Hi Sona Jewellers (Gujarat) Ltd. and Maheshwari Logistics Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
