Stock market update: Nifty Auto index down over 1%; Maruti Suzuki sheds 3%

NEW DELHI: Nifty Auto index was trading lower at 12:41PM (IST) on Friday.

Shares of Maruti Suzuki (down 3.0 per cent), MRF (down 2.97 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (down 2.71 per cent), Motherson Sumi Systems (down 2.65 per cent) and Eicher Motors (down 2.57 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While TVS Motor Company (up 7.51 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (up 2.61 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries (up 0.53 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty Auto index was trading 1.49 per cent down at 7729.9 around 12:41PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 98.85 points at 11571.95, while the BSE Sensex was down 377.53 points at 39372.32.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 were trading in the green, while 35 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Tata Motors, Indian Oil Corp, YES Bank and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Blue Dart Exp, Vaibhav Global, Adani Green Energy Ltd., Route Mobile Ltd. and Ambuja Cements hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Mittal Life Style Ltd., Shubhlaxmi Jewel Art Ltd., Vikas Proppant & Granite Ltd., GE Power India Ltd., Sumit Woods Ltd., Jump Networks Ltd., SKIL Infrastructure Ltd., Madhya Pradesh Today Media Ltd., SS Infrastructure Development Consultants Ltd. and Shrenik Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
