Stock market update: Nifty PSU Bank index up 2%; Indian Overseas Bank leaps 8%

NEW DELHI: Nifty PSU Bank index was trading with gains at 12:16PM (IST) on Wednesday.

Shares of Indian Overseas Bank (up 7.69 per cent), Punjab & Sind Bank (up 4.84 per cent), Bank of Baroda (up 4.59 per cent), Punjab National Bank (up 4.44 per cent) and Central Bank of India (up 3.39 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While J&K Bank (down 8.81 per cent) was the sole loser in the index.

The Nifty PSU Bank index was trading 2.26 per cent up at 1516.6 around 12:16PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 62.30 points at 12992.85, while the BSE Sensex was down 238.73 points at 44284.29.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 were trading in the green, while 30 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, PNB, Bank of Baroda and ONGC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Gland Pharma, CAMS, Emami, Chambal Fert and HDFC Life hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Jump Networks Ltd., Lakshmi Vilas Bank Ltd., Deep Energy Resources Ltd., Vasa Retail & Overseas Ltd. and Standard Industries Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
