I have been investing in five mutual fund schemes for the past two years. My portfolio is:
    L&T Emerging Businesses Fund
    ICICI Prudential Value Discovery Fund
    Mirae Asset Large Cap Fund
    ICICI Prudential Infrastructure Fund
    Nippon India Pharma Fund
    SBI Small Cap Fund

Are these schemes good for 10 years? As of now my portfolio is in red.

Shifali Satsangee, Founder, Funds Ve’daa, responds:

You have not mentioned the amount you are investing in each mutual fund scheme. Since you are investing in two small cap schemes, two sectoral schemes and in one value fund, I am assuming that you have an aggressive risk profile. If you plan to increase your SIP amount in future, you may consider to add a large & mid cap scheme like Mirae Asset Emerging Bluechip Fund.

You may also consider to replace ICICI Prudential Value Discovery Fund with a multi cap scheme like Kotak Standard Multicap Fund.

Your core portfolio should be of large cap, large & mid cap and multi cap schemes. While your satellite portfolio should comprise of mid cap, small cap and sectoral funds.

Your sectoral/thematic allocation should not exceed 10-15% of your total portfolio.
