    BENGALURU: Wipro chairman Rishad Premji has invited simple ideas for social distancing from Twitterati as the IT professionals go back to work after a prolonged lockdown.

    While the Indian government extended the lockdown till May 3 to contain the spread of coronavirus in the country; it eased the norms for some sectors including IT and IT enabled services allowing them to resume work from offices with 50% capacity.

    On April 15, the home ministry announced an advisory that companies in the IT and ITeS sector could operate with half of their workforce from offices beginning April 20, in a bid to boost economic activity. The ministry also emphasised on strict guidelines for social distancing at workplaces.

    “Preparing for the new reality of distancing @Wipro. Would encourage all working spaces no matter how big or small to plan ahead for this so we don’t scramble when things do partially open up. Also, do share simple innovative ideas!” Premji tweeted.

    He also shared some photos of common areas inside Wipro campus to cite examples of how social distancing needs to be followed.

    Nasscom, the industry body for the IT and ITeS sector, however suggested that its members go back to work from offices in a phased manner to reduce risk.
