Walmart India has elevated
Sameer Aggarwal to the role of deputy chief executive officer, and industry sources believe he would take over in the coming months the reins of Walmart’s flagship wholesale retail unit in the country from current CEO
Krish Iyer.
“Sameer Aggarwal has been appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Walmart India effective 1st January 2020. He will continue reporting to Krish Iyer, President & CEO Walmart India, and oversee operations, merchandising, people, marketing, real estate, kirana development program, digital, eCommerce and strategy,” a company spokesperson said.

This is the second promotion for Agarwal during his less than two year stint at Walmart India. A retail veteran with stints at Yum Brands in Thailand and U.K. retailer Sainsbury’s in London, Aggarwal was hired in April 2018 as chief strategy and administrative officer at Walmart India. Within eight months, he was elevated to the role of chief business officer in December last year and his promotion to the deputy CEO comes exactly a year after that, according to his
