Siemens AG elevates CTO Roland Busch as CEO with aim to push digital business

MUMABI: German engineering major Siemens AG has appointed Roland Busch as President and Chief Executive Officer of its global operations as a part of its strategy to set in place the next generation of management, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
Busch is currently a deputy CEO, Chief Technology Officer and also the Head of human resource at the conglomerate. He spearheaded the company's plans to expand its digital offerings, for which India is among its key centres. He will be replacing Joe Kaeser, who is proposed to be the chairman of the supervisory board of Siemens Energy.
“Through the decisions that it made today, the Siemens supervisory board will be strengthening the Siemens Energy leadership team substantially and has decided on the succession process for the top leadership of Siemens AG even faster than originally planned", Jim Hageman Snabe, Chairman of the supervisory board of Siemens AG said in a statement.

Commenting on the new CEO Busch, Hageman said, "He will be bringing new momentum to the businesses and teams at Siemens, and – in times shaped by the digital transformation – he will continue to rigorously drive their ongoing development".

Siemens AG has also appointed Christian Bruch, who is currently executive vice president of Linde plc and CEO of Linde Engineering, as the CEO of Siemens' gas and power operating company and designated CEO Siemens Energy. Maria Ferraro, who is currently chief financial officer (CFO) of the digital industries operating company, has been appointed the new CFO of Siemens Energy. Both Bruch and Ferraro will take over the respective new positions from May 1.

The company also made some other key changes in its management.
