    Covid-19 cases in Tamil Nadu remain at 1400 levels for second day in a row

    CHENNAI: The number of new Covid-19 cases in Tamil Nadu remained at 1400 levels for the second day in a row with 1442 people testing positive for the infection on Friday.
    This takes the total tally of cases to 777,616, the State media bulletin confirmed.

    Tamil Nadu has been showing a steady decline in cases in the last few months, providing a lot of relief as it has been among the worst-affected in the country.

    The number of deaths in the State too went down from 14 on Thursday to 12 on Friday, taking the death toll in the State to 11,681.

    Chennai's cases continued to remain under the 400 mark on Friday with 392 people testing positive for the infection.

    As many as 1494 people were discharged on Friday, taking the total discharges to 754,826.

    Testing, however, went up from 60,365 on Thursday to 61,112 on Friday. The State touched record levels of testing when over 93,000 people were tested on a single day in October.
