    On Day 1 of PM Modi's 21-day nation-wide shutdown, the number of new cases dropped to 26, with the country's total cases surpassing 600. With most businesses having to work from home or with minimal personnel, many have temporarily shut shop.

    The exercise to update the National Population Register (NPR) and the first phase of the Census-2021 have also been deferred indefinitely due to the 21-day lockdown. The two exercises were supposed to be carried out from April 1 to September 30.
