    J&K L-G reviews progress made under Back to Village programme

    Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday called for strengthening rural connectivity for the socio economic development of the villages of Jammu and Kashmir as he reviewed the progress made under the Back to Village (B2V) programme.

    Sinha stressed on expediting rural connectivity and piped drinking water for all villages, as roads, power and drinking water are the basic requisites for the holistic development of any area. He underlined the need for connecting every village that fulfils the norms of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

    L-G Sinha directed the secretary, Jal Shakti Department, to make all best efforts to achieve the target of providing 100 per cent piped water under Jal Jeevan Mission by March 2022.

    Moreover, he asked the Rural Development Department to prepare inventories and databases of equipment and facilities in village panchayat, besides updating B2V works on the web portal for the information of the public.

    “Identify the most backward blocks for their development on the lines of aspirational districts,” he told the officers concerned during a meeting held at the Raj Bhavan.

    The L-G called for 100 per cent saturation of centrally sponsored schemes for the benefit of larger population and directed for establishment of playgrounds in every panchayat under convergence mode.
