SRINAGAR: J&K lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha on Friday said the administration was formulating a comprehensive plan to fill up 25,000 vacancies and was working on fulfilling PM Modi’s assurance of providing 50,000 jobs in the Union Territory.
“The plan is to fill 25,000 vacancies. 10,000 vacancies have already been announced,” Sinha said during one of the ‘Back to Village’ events. Under the initiative, senior officials visit villages to redress grievances.

“My objective is maximum utilisation of industries, manufacturing, services sector, village industries, handicrafts, tourism and technology to create more jobs in the rural areas of J&K,” said Sinha.

A report by the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries — a conglomerate of business bodies in Kashmir — says 5 lakh people have lost jobs in Kashmir since August 5, 2019.

The J&K administration under Sinha has promised to bring much-awaited development to the region, including providing job opportunities and bringing far-flung villages on the prosperity map.

“I believe there is a vast yet untapped talent pool in our villages waiting for an opportunity,” the lieutenant governor said.
