    J&K L-G Manoj Sinha reviews progress of Jammu-Kashmir railway line

    The L-G Sinha directed the railway authorities to expand the rail link towards unconnected areas of Rajouri-Poonch and Kupwara region.

    Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir (J &K), Manoj Sinha, reviewed the progress made under the 272 Km long Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramullah Railway Line at a meeting held at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu on Saturday.
    This project is being built at the cost of Rs 27,949 Crores.

    Apart from the advisor to the L-G K K Sharma and Chief Secretary BVR Subraahmanyam, Chairman of Railways Board, Vinod Kumar Yadav and General Manger Northern Railways, Rajiv Choudhary were also present at the meeting.

    According to a press release, the L-G was informed that 161 Km length of the project has been commissioned. L-G Sinha directed the Railways authorities to complete the remaining part of the project from Katra to Banihal by 15 August, 2022.

    He assured full support to the executing agencies for timely completion of the project. Under the project, the world’s highest railway bridge (with a height of 359 meters) is coming up on river Chenab. Similarly, India’s first cable stayed railway bridge on Anji Nallah in Reasi is also coming up along the link.

    The L-G Sinha directed the railway authorities to expand the rail link towards unconnected areas of Rajouri-Poonch and Kupwara region.
