    Rajkumar Imo Singh expelled from Congress in Manipur

    Synopsis

    Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) General secretary Hareshwar Goswami in order stated, “In his expulsion, Singh ceased to be the primary member of the Congress with immediate effect.” Six out eight Congress MLAs who skipped the trust vote in the state assembly resigned from the assembly. Five of them have already joined BJP.

    GUWAHATI: Manipur Congress has expelled Rajkumar Imo Singh from the party for six years.

    Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) General secretary Hareshwar Goshwami in an order stated, “In his expulsion Singh ceased to be the primary member of the Congress with immediate effect.”

    Six out eight Congress MLAS who skipped the trust vote in the state assembly resigned from the assembly. Five of them have already joined BJP.

    Imo Singh, who is son-in-law of the Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh, had voted for BJP candidate during the recently held Upper House polls.

    Ningombam Bupenda Meitei, Congress spokesperson in Manipur, said: "Congress party has expelled MLA RK Imo from the party and its primary membership for 6 years for anti-party activities. The PCC President of Manipur, M. Okendro, has expelled the MLA. He was supporting BJP government by involving in anti-Congress moves.”

    The effective strength in the 60 member assembly is 47, BJP claims that it now has the support of 34 MLAs.
