Sikkim to reopen educational institutions from June 15

GUWAHATI: In a gradual manner, Sikkim has decided to reopen its educational institution from June 15 onwards.

Sikkim is COVID-19 free for the Himalayan state has not reported any positive case.

Senior official in the state government said, “In phased manner classes will start from class nine to university level from June 15. However for elementary and primary level online classes will continue.”

Sikkim Education minister K.N Lepcha talking to media persons Gangtok said that following COVID-19 pandemic schools were closed in the state since mid-March this year. Students have to suffer irreparable issue.

The minister said that online platform was used to teach in the classes. " We are waiting for the SOPs from the Union HRD ministry and NCERT which would be followed accordingly”.

However, there will no morning assembly besides social distancing Saturdays will be a working days in the school with classes being held. The state government has decided to cut down on holidays in the academic calendar.
