Those accounting for 35% of the state wants to take away political right of the rest 65%: Assam FM

Guwahati: Assam finance minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that 35 percent people want to take away the political rights of the 65 percent people in Assam.
Sarma while attending the joining ceremony of Bodo leaders in BJP outside Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) said that, “If people in Assam are not united in the next 20 years the mother tongue of Assam will Arabic and in schools Arbic will be taught.”

Assam chief minister, Sarbananda Sonowal said that Mughal attack is still continuing in Assam.” It is a challenge to Assamese and we need to be united because the Mughal attack on us is still continuing. Indigenous people are still not protected, we need to jointly fight against infiltrators.”

Sarma said, “ In Goalpara and Dhubri Kock Rajbonshi people have lost their political rights, in Bodoland those who participated in the Bodo agitation for some votes are now in talks with Badruddin Ajmal. In Darrang and Udalguri people have lost their political space, in Nagaon and Morigaon Assamese people have lost their political rights.”

Ajmal is the chief of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF). Sarma said that there is hue and cry when during matriculation examination when a set of questions in Bengali languages by mistake reaches Assamese locality. “There is a huge debate that Bengali language is being imposed on Assam. However Ajmal in his programme uses Urdu and Arabic language there is no hue and cry by the so called intellectuals.”

The minister added, “There is an attempt to engineer a fight between different communities of Assam. The leftists and those practicing communal politics want to take away politics from the Assamese people. 35 percent population wants to take away political rights of the 65 percent people and in next 10 years someone like Ajmal will be the chief minister of Assam.”

The Muslim minority population in Assam is roughly 34 to 35 percent.

Sarma said that 65 percent must unite. "We must stop fighting among ourselves and realise that no community in Assam can remain in isolations those days are gone. Some people are trying to be aggressor .”

Recently Ajmal attended a programme where the banner had words written in Arabic. AIUDF argued that the programme was organised by an NGO and Arbic was inadvertently used in it.
