Trouble brewing at Nagaland-Assam border after organisations launch economic blockade

Guwahati: After Mizoram, trouble is brewing at Nagaland-Assam border following different organisations launching economic blockade.

Karbi Students Association (KSA) begun an indefinite economic blockade along the Assam-Nagaland inter-state borders in Karbi Anglong district of Assam from Tuesday alleging illegal encroachments by Nagaland.

A senior official in state government who do not want to be named told ET, "Though there were protest in some places there is no hindrance to movement."

Deputy Commissioners of inter-state bordering districts of Assam and Nagaland held meetings on Tuesday. Protestors blockade the National Highway 39.

KSA alleged that Nagaland authorities have issued land patta (certificate) to people in the reserve forest, Daldali forest reserve under Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) in Assam.

All Assam Students Union (AASU), had on Sunday threatened to block roads to Nagaland in protest against alleged encroachment of land of reserve forest in Assam.

Recently there was flare up along Assam and Mizoram following which Centre intervened and movement of trucks were resumed.
