"Isro project review teams made presentations to mission management, Chaired by Dr. Sivan right through the early hours of today onward. They are already addressing causes and learning from the event," K Vijayraghavan, the Principal Scientific Advisor to the government tweeted late Saturday. "After a moment of despondency, it is back to work!! It is inspirational to see this characteristic of science in collective action. Kudos to Isro"
India's maiden mission was a partial success after the lander Vikram lost communication 2.1 kms away from landing on the moon's surface. Efforts to communicate with the Lander, which also carries the Pragyan rover, did not yield any success till Saturday evening, a Isro official told ET.
The spacecraft is likely to have oscillated during the descent, which Sivan had called as 15 minutes of terror.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who addressed the scientists, said that the country backed them and was confident of going back to the moon.
