    Amazon Prime Day 2019 to have over 500 new product launches by Indian SMBs

    BENGALURU: In its third year in India, Amazon’s Prime Day will start at midnight on Monday, July 15 and for the first time ever will run for 48 hours, offering Prime members two full days of the best in shopping, savings and entertainment. Adding to the celebration this year, thousands of small and medium businesses, women entrepreneurs, weavers, and startups under Amazon’s various initiatives- Kala Haat, Amazon Saheli, Amazon Launchpad and Amazon Business from across the country will showcase over 500 new products first for Prime members.

    Gopal Pillai, Vice President, Seller Services, Amazon India, said in a statement, “Our longest ever Prime day gets even bigger this year with over 500 new launches by small and medium businesses exclusively for Prime members, a growth of 7X from last year!”

    Prime Day will see participation from Amazon Saheli and Kala Haat entrepreneurs including hand-woven clothing, stationery, grocery and feminine hygiene products by Saheli entrepreneurs across the country. Amazon Saheli partner READ India will offer grocery, apparel, handmade fashion accessories, mobile covers, home and kitchen products this year to Prime members.

    Vijaya Ranjan, Founder, SIRIMIRI, said in a statement, “Amazon Saheli has given me a platform to showcase my skills and talent to a larger audience. Prime Day 2019 is a great opportunity for women entrepreneurs like me to gain large-scale exposure for our products, and I am delighted and excited to be a participant for the first time this year.”

    Buy hand-crafted heritage from Kala Haat
    Artisans from UP, West Bengal, Telangana, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh will be offering hundreds of products across eight types of crafts such as pochampally ikat, patola silk, khadi jackets, women's stoles, blue pottery and wooden puzzles during Prime Day. ‘Tantuja’, an enterprise by the government of West Bengal will launch a new range of handcrafted scarves and stoles for women customers, along with their existing range of handwoven sarees. Tribes India, the apex body under TRIFED will be offering an exclusive range of tribal products created by tribal artisans, and bring them to the forefront.

    Emerging brands under Amazon Launchpad will have 70 new launches across 25 brands in 12 categories during Prime Day 2019. The range of products are spread across categories such as health and personal care, groceries, electronics, beauty, and apparel.

    • Ayurveda brand, Kapiva is offering a new, healthy and aromatic range of green tea with interesting flavors of rose, turmeric mulethi, and tulsi mulethi.
    • Beauty brand, Emeveta is newly launching onion shampoo for hair growth and hair fall control (paraben and sulphate free) exclusively for Prime members.
    • Prime members will also get access to a wide new range of kurtis, dresses, and sarees by apparel brand Purvaja
    • Electronic brand Mansaa is launching smart multi-color Amazon Alexa compatible LED bulbs to light up the rooms for Prime members this year.

To keep up with the exponential increase in demand, we have planned exciting new product launches with great introductory offer and ensured that our inventory is ready to go.”

    Other SMBs include Keto Dosa Mix and low carb sweetener for weight-watchers from popular food brand Nutroactive; hair masks from Mamaearth; new variant of whey protein from health supplement brand MuscleBlaze; new range of water-resistant portable Bluetooth wireless earphones by electronic brand ‘1More’ among others.

    Even on Amazon Business, which provides business customers easy access to thousands of products and a variety of benefits, Business Prime members can avail numerous Prime enabled offers from over 2.6 lakh business sellers and get huge discounts on multi-unit purchases on lakhs of products. Business Prime enables members to get the most out of the great selection, pricing and shopping experience on Amazon Business. It claims to be largest GST selection aggregator in India and allows businesses to get GST invoices on crores of Prime offers

    • For Prime Day 2019, business customers can save an additional 5%-28% by claiming GST input tax credit.
    • During Prime Day 2019, business customers can buy the commercial selection range of brands such as HP, Lenovo and Godrej. Additionally, they can also choose from a vast range of products including network storage solutions, electronics, pantry and office supplies, cleaning products.

    Sonia, Operation Head, Da Bella LLP, said in a statement, “We have been a part of Amazon Business for 15 months and have seen a tremendous growth in the number of business customers buying from us. We are really excited for this Prime Day and we plan to increase our selection to 4500 products, all of which business customers can get GST invoices on and avail great deals and discounts on bulk purchases.”

    Prime Day 2018 was a success for small and medium-sized businesses who put their passion and unique skill sets on display. Prime members around India purchased thousands of products from entrepreneurs, start-ups, artisans and mom-and-pop shops. Over 50,000 participating small and medium-sized businesses saw an average growth of 240% during Prime Day 2018 over an average day. Moreover, small and medium-sized businesses exceeded $1.5 billion in sales last Prime Day globally.
