CHENNAI: Zoho Corporation CEO Sridhar Vembu asserted that he will be present in events of his liking, a response to Twitter attacks over his likely participation in an event organised by right-wing organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
"I don't decide my views based on Twitter attacks. If you dislike which events I attend, please do what your conscience dictates and I will do what mine dictates. We earn our daily bread due to our work and we will continue to do quality work. I won't be responding to attacks,” Vembu Tweeted on Monday afternoon.
The event, slated for February 2, will take place at a school in south Chennai on the theme ‘Resurgent Bharath.’ which is likely to be attended by software professionals.
RSS functionaries say having senior executives of corporations speak at events is routine for the organisation. Prakash B, State public Relations for RSS, said Rama S Ramachandran, MD and Head of Operations for Accenture Solutions will also be present. A mail has been sent to Accenture with queries about the participation of Ramachandran.
“We are planning to reach out to more such executives,” said Prakash, who added that a galaxy of corporate chiefs such as Shiv Nadar, Ratan Tata, and Azim Premji have attended RSS events and met with senior functionaries of the organisation.
Saravana Raja, a former product marketing manager at Zoho, had quit the company in October 2018 over a disagreement with Vembu for a post by the employee on the company’s intranet discussion platform. Raja had written about his experience at the blogging web site Medium, prompted to do so after IAS officer Kannan Gopinathan, who quit protesting the dilution of special rights to Jammu & Kashmir.
Late on Monday, Ramachandran Tweeted his denial to agreeing to be be present at the event, wondering how the “misunderstanding” happened.
