    Karan Bajwa appointed as Google Cloud head in India

    Earlier this month, the company also announced plans to expand its presence in India by launching a cloud region in Delhi, adding to its Mumbai region which was opened in 2017.

    NEW DELHI: Former IBM India head Karan Bajwa has been appointed by Google as Managing Director of Google Cloud in India.

    Google Cloud has customers ranging from Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Hero Motocorp, ICICI Prudential, L&T Finance, LIC HFL, OYO Hotels and Wipro in India and has been trying aggresively to shore its market share in the country.

    Earlier this month, the company also announced plans to expand its presence in India by launching a cloud region in Delhi, adding to its Mumbai region which was opened in 2017.

    Google competes with the likes of Microsoft, IBM and Amazon Web Services in India in the Cloud business.

    Bajwa will be responsible for driving all revenue and go-to-market operations for Google Cloud’s extensive solution portfolio that includes Google Cloud Platform and G Suite. He will also advise the local developer ecosystem and India-based Global System Integrators (GSIs).

    Earlier this year IBM appointed Sandip Patel, who most recently was at the helm of IBM Boston’s Insurance unit, as the managing director of its India and South Asia(ISA) operations.
