"TCS supports mission critical systems that run public services, banks and stock exchanges, insurance and healthcare institutions, telecom & utility providers, retail, consumer goods and travel companies, which in turn provide essential services to people globally. These organisations and the societies they serve rely on TCS to keep their vital services running in these critical times,” a Tata Sons spokesperson told ET.

Some TCS employees are said to have expressed concern about the fact that the work from option was not available to all TCS employees. An internal note fron TCS CEO Rajesh Gopinathan to employees said, “We have taken several steps to minimise density in offices and keep them extra hygienic and sanitised. While some of these steps might be inconvenient, they significantly enhance the safety of each one of us and that of our partners, which is of critical importance now. Each of us should be proud of the way TCS has responded to this crisis and stepped up to the challenge as one team".

TCS has enabled work from home for 40% of TCS associates using Secure Borderless Workspaces infrastructure, as per the note. “Our teams are working on war footing to enable for the rest in conjunction with client teams globally so we can be prepared for any eventualities. Unforeseen scenarios are being dealt with expeditiously,” the note stated.

Gopinathan said the company's infrastructure, security, risk and compliance, and project teams have developed and tested six different work scenarios which are getting rolled out across all project teams.
