“With people in manufacturing not having the option to work from home, risk mitigation is the new normal and we’re providing solutions to help with that,” said Surajit Das, CEO, Routematic.

The company is starting to see traction for its solutions, which are mainly aimed at plants and factory workers.

The QR code-based solution helps companies enforce social distancing norms and avoid crowding on the shopfloor and common areas, as well as help with contact tracing.

The company codes all the assets and seats in the vans and cafeterias, using that to ensure norms are being followed.

This has been implemented by a few companies so far, including a large automobile manufacturer.

Routematic is in talks with others in the pharma and chemical industries. The company is also in talks with manufacturers abroad for this solution, said Das.

“When workers see steps being taken for their safety, it gives them the confidence to come back to work,” said Das.

As people start getting back to a normal routine, Das said that this could further be expanded to offices and other categories as well.

The mobility business is unlikely to return to pre-Covid-19 levels for a while given that IT and BPO firms formed a large part of its customer base. Most of these companies have said that they would continue to work remotely till year end, with many expected to extend this further.
